The new Lahekalda apartment buildings attain full height

Merko is developing and building the Lahekalda residential quarter sited on the Maarjamäe limestone cliff and already home to 300 families. In mid-May, we held the topping-off ceremony for the first two eight-storey buildings – 98 apartments will be completed at Paekalda 23/1 and Paekalda 23/2.

The Lahekalda quarter is being built on the Maarjamäe limestone cliff area near the Song Festival Grounds. A protected green space will be preserved around the new homes. The modern and integral living environment fuses the work of a number of top Estonian architects, and its proximity to city centre, Kadriorg and Pirita and convenient access from Narva maantee make it an attractive place to live.

“The amazing views of the sea and city, naturally green living environment, Pirita recreational trail, sea promenade, the proximity of several culture, sport and leisure time opportunities and fast connection to the city centre are what bring customers to Lahekalda,” enumerated the quarter’s development director Ines Prual.

In future, the city of Tallinn plans to build the Tallinn Hospital right near Lahekalda and a segment of a Baltic klint park stretching for nine kilometres will envelop the development area. The development of the area means additional opportunities for Lahekalda residents in terms of working from home, consuming services near home and spending free time.

The architectural solution for the energy class A buildings at Paekalda 23 is by the architects at Arhitektuuribüroo PLUSS and the interior finishing plans are designed by the interior architects at LÄVI. Merko will establish landscaped recreational areas for adults and children around the building and install solar panels on the roofs of both buildings.

The approximately 17-hectare Lahekalda development area will have up to 25 modern residential buildings with more than 1000 apartments. Construction of a nursery school and local grocery are also planned for the development. The six buildings completed so far are home to 300 families and construction of two buildings with 98 apartments is under way.
